Purchase printable vinyl sheets. Available through most major office supply manufacturers, printable vinyl sheets generally come in business card, 4x6 photo size and standard 8.5x11 sheets. In office supply stores, these should be located near the same area where you purchase labels and other printing supplies. If unavailable locally, search online.
For large or vehicle decals, make sure you purchase "printable" vinyl sheets compatible with your printer (inkjet or laser) in 8.5x11 sheets to optimize and maximize the size of your decal.

2 Use Layout/decal software to decal your decal on your computer. You can purchase special decal software to create your decal with bonus clip art and fonts if desired, but special software is not always necessary. At a lower cost, printing packages can be purchased at major office supply stores from $10 to $100. If you already have, or have a need to purchase professional decal software, it is certainly a high-end option. If you already have an image or logo for your business on your computer, you can also decal your vinyl decal in Microsoft Word or other word processing application.
To decal your vinyl decal, open your software and choose a page size of 8.5x11, or smaller if you prefer. Insert your image(s) and/or logo and text. Arrange placement to your satisfaction and preferences.

3 Print a test page. Since the printable vinyl sheets are a standard 8.5x11 size, you can print test pages on regular printer paper. Examine the test print. Hold it up. Take it to your car, filing cabinet or refrigerator and make sure it looks as expected on the metal surface. Look at it from a distance. *a small home computerized die cutter is also needed.

4 Edit and print additional test pages as needed. Unless you've had a lot of practice with die cutting decals, you may find that your text or images need to be resized or repositioned. You may even want to change the colors to coordinate or maximize contrast. Keep in mind that potential customers will be catching your decal at a glance in an office, in traffic or in a parking lot. The image(s) and text should be reasonably recognizable at a distance.

5 When satisfied with the decal of your vinyl decal, follow the manufacturers' instructions to load the printable vinyl sheets in your printer.

6 Print your vinyl decal and allow it to dry as needed. Printable vinyl sheets are easily trimmed with office scissors, so you may trim corners or edges if you'd like, then your vinyl decal is ready for use.
